This activity promotes development and learning by encouraging children to use large muscles to move and balance their own bodies.
Materials Needed:
- Pillows
- Sturdy box or stool
Participants: This activity is intended for adult/child interaction
Directions:
- Place the box or stool on the floor. Surround it with pillows.
- Encourage your child to climb on the box, offering support as needed.
- Older children can jump off the box into the pillows. Younger children may simply learn how to climb on and off the box. Talk with your child as they climb, teaching new vocabulary words like up, down, and over.
Learn More: Place a blanket on the floor and help your child roll across it. Climb or hop up and down stairs with your child, counting each one.
