Tightrope Tape Challenge

Ideal for Preschool/Pre-K, School-Age

This activity promotes development and learning by encouraging children to use large muscles to move and balance their own body

Materials Needed:

  • Masking or painter’s tape

Participants: This activity is intended for independent play, adult/child interaction, or 2 or more participants/players.

Directions:

  1. Secure a piece of masking tape to a tile or wood floor. The tape should be at least 6 to 12 feet long.
  2. Pretend the tape is a tightrope. Cross it using a variety of body movements, such as tiptoeing, jumping, hopping, skipping, walking backward, or shuffling sideways.
  3. Add some exciting pretend elements. Pretend you’re crossing a river with crocodiles or a lava field.
