This activity promotes development and learning by encouraging children to develop a sense of identity and belonging.
Materials Needed:
- None
Participants: This activity is intended for adult/child interaction.
Directions:
- Have a conversation about experts in your neighborhood (e.g., bakers are expert pastry makers, police are experts at keeping people safe).
- Ask your kids to teach you something they’re an expert at. Maybe it’s making macaroni and cheese, doing a cartwheel, or finding bugs in the backyard.
- Follow their directions and allow them to teach you their skill.
Extension: Share a skill you’re an expert at and teach them. Determine a new skill to develop expertise in and encourage your child to learn it so they can teach you or work on it together
