This activity promotes development and learning by encouraging children to:

  • Use large muscles to explore and interact with the environment.
  • Learn about opposites.

Materials Needed:

  • None

Participants: This activity is intended for child interaction.


  1. View the video as Bright Horizons teacher Mr. Nate guides you through a BOKS burst movement activity, make sure you are standing, and have space to move.
  2. Watch and listen to Mr. Nate as he calls out one movement at a time in the below video. For example:
    1. Stomp your feet quietly.
    2. Swing your arms quickly.
    3. Swing your arms slowly.
    4. Clap your hands loudly.
    5. Clap your hands quietly.
    6. Spin around quickly.
    7. Spin around slowly.
    8. Free dance.
