Going on a Pair Hunt

Ideal for Preschool/Pre-K, School-Age

This activity promotes development and learning by encouraging children to count, add, match, and sort everyday objects from around your home.

Materials Needed:

  • Anything your child can find to show pairs, such as shoes, mittens, socks, cups, crayons, etc.

Participants: This activity is intended for adult/child interaction.

Directions:

  1. Challenge your child to go on a pair hunt around your house. Set a timer and see how many pairs of items your child can find in one minute!
  2. Count all the collected pairs. Ask: how many shoes are in a pair? How many shoes are in two pairs? Three pairs?
